Publishing During a Pandemic

Asking for the community’s help

Publishing a book during a pandemic is hard. While many people I know and love bought the book and even their friends bought the book, I’m trying to reach out to people who may not know me, who may not have heard of a Rainbow Gathering, and who may not travel in the same circles I do.

That’s where you come in. I need your help in many different ways. Hopefully one or more more of these options will resonate with your movements in the world.

If you are part of a book group, recommend Falling From The Moon.

If you use Twitter, tweet about it and tag @KarinZirk.

Take of photo of the book in a cool location like the woods, your pool, or in the middle of a bread baking extravaganza in a flour covered kitchen and post it on Instagram tagging @MythCamper (my Instagram handle), or on Facebook and tag @KarinZirk.

Write a review on LinkedIn the new go-to place for information sharing. This will help your followers and hopefully their followers learn about the book.

You can always direct people to http://FallingFromTheMoon.com for more information. Or pick the link of your choice from the list below:

Writing is always an autobiographical journey

Writing a novel is a journey of uncovering the story and yourself. As tiny insights appear in the writing, you apply them in your daily life and as the foibles of work, family and community teach you new lessons, they are woven into the story. My life experiences are integral to my fiction and my fiction heavily influences my life.

When I started writing Falling From The Moon, I was a partner in a software consulting company, had boundless energy, and only worked enough to survive. Back then I preferred to spend my time surfing the sunset glass-off at Black’s Beach or camping in the woods for weeks on end at the rainbow gathering.

While my life has changed significantly over the years, the story lives on.

Falling From The Moon was published earlier this year and since then I have been learning how to share my story without in-person events by hosting webinars, talk radio, and of course sharing the journey on social media.

Mutany Radio Podcast

Mutiny Radio is an internet radio station operating from the Mission District of San Francisco, California. The station has an eclectic talk format, hosting local shows with interviews, as well as live performances of comedy, music, hip-hop, theater, storytelling, philosophy and poetry.

On Tuesday, June 16 I was on the air with Rachel Pinson for the All Ways Free broadcast/podcast. We discussed my novel, Judi Bari, Redwood Summer, and the scheduled Rainbow Gathering that is sort of canceled and sort of not. Listen to the entire program or find me at about 35 minutes into the podcast.
