Western Sycamore in Marian Bear Park

A creative workshop seeking to re-establish our emotional connection to the mysteries of the planet through the exploration of the unconscious mind using images, symptoms, mythology, and the creative imagination. Our ancestors understood that we are part of nature and nature is part of us. This intersection is on display in mythic artifacts from ancient Greece to the west’s Bigfoot. Explore this symbiosis in our mythic narratives as we circle in nature, share ideas, and explore where our imaginations take us. Using images, myths, bodily movement, and writing exercises, participants will learn to hear what the earth is trying to tell us. No writing experience necessary.

Suggested donation: $10 per person; no one turned away for lack of funds. Cash/Check only day of the event. Rain cancels.

The workshop takes place at Marian Bear Natural Park from 9:00 a.m. until noon at the west end of the western parking lot off Regents Road/Hwy 52 to the left of the parking lot if you are facing west. We will be at the west end of the west parking lot at Regents Road to the left of the parking lot if you are facing west. RAIN CANCELS.

There will be some shade from the magnificent oak trees in the Park and one or two concrete picnic tables. If we are a big group, people will need to bring chairs or be prepared to sit on the ground. There are restrooms and water fountains available on site.

Karin Zirk, Ph.D., holds a doctorate in mythology and depth psychology and believes in the critical importance of mythology in our culture despite an emphasis on logical reasoning. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in literature and creative writing and loves San Diego’s wild spaces.
